Monster Romance
Monster romance gives the love interest claws, horns, wings, or worse — orcs, nagas, gargoyles, eldritch beings — and then insists on treating them as a full romantic lead. The appeal is acceptance turned up to mythic scale: a creature the world calls monstrous being gentle with exactly one person, and that person choosing them with clear eyes. The monstrousness externalizes what romance is always about — being loved as you actually are.
The genre's craft rule is that the monster must stay a monster. Sanding the strangeness off until he's a handsome man with prosthetics breaks the contract. The best entries keep the alien biology, instincts, and culture load-bearing, and let the human lead's fear turn to fascination on the page, step by earned step.
