AIBookCraft Privacy Notice
- Effective date:
- September 29, 2026
- Last updated:
- October 6, 2026
This notice explains how AIBookCraft handles personal information. It supplements the SecondEarth Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”), which covers everything else, including your privacy rights, security, international transfers and our wider list of service providers. If the two differ on something specific to AIBookCraft, this notice controls.
1. Information AIBookCraft uses
- Account information — such as your email address and the account you sign in with.
- Your content — books, chapters, story plans, characters, interactive stories, story worlds, character chats, prompts and images you create.
- Purchases and credits — your subscription status, purchases, and credit balance and history. Payments are processed by the App Store, Google Play or our web checkout; we don’t receive your full card details.
- Content settings and age — see Age assurance.
- Safety records — see Safety records.
- Usage and device data — app and website usage, device information and crash reports, as described in the Privacy Policy. In the app this includes product analytics and, in app versions that support it, session recordings (see Session recordings). On the website, optional analytics run only if you allow them in Privacy choices.
2. AI providers
To generate chapters, stories, scenes, chat replies and images, we send your request to third-party AI providers:
- OpenRouter, which routes our requests to the model providers below
- DeepSeek models
- Z.ai GLM models, served through OpenRouter partner hosts
- Google Gemini models, which we also use for automated safety screening
- OpenAI models — GPT-4.1 for text and GPT Image for images
- fal.ai, for image generation with models such as FLUX, Nano Banana, Ideogram, Recraft, Seedream and Z-Image
- ElevenLabs, only for optional voice feedback, as described in the Privacy Policy
What we send. Your prompt, the story material needed for that request (for example the title, characters and earlier chapters or scenes) and your chat messages. We don’t send your email address or payment details. When someone plays or continues a story world you published, material from that world is sent as part of their requests.
How providers use it. Providers process this data to return results to us. Where provider settings let us control it, we don’t allow them to use your private content to train their models. Unless we ask for and receive your separate consent, we don’t use your private content to train third-party AI models.
Other service providers. AIBookCraft also relies on providers for app data and hosting (such as Convex), purchases (RevenueCat, the App Store, Google Play and, for web checkout, Stripe), and analytics, session recordings and crash reporting (such as PostHog, Mixpanel, Firebase, Sentry and AppsFlyer). The Privacy Policy describes these providers and how we share data with them.
3. Session recordings
To see where people get stuck and to fix problems, the AIBookCraft app may record how you move through its screens — taps, scrolling, which screens you open and for how long — using PostHog. A recording is a reconstruction of the app’s screens. It doesn’t use your camera or microphone.
What a recording shows. What appears on your screen in the app, including the books, chapters, interactive stories, chats and characters you read or write, and what you type into story and chat fields.
What is hidden. Before a recording leaves your device, the app hides email addresses, passwords and sign-in, verification or redeem codes, your date of birth, your profile name, handle and photos, photos you add from your device (other than a photo you set as a book cover), and your memoir interviews and voice transcripts. App logs and network activity are not recorded.
Who sees it. Recordings are processed by PostHog, Inc. in the United States as our service provider, and only the AIBookCraft team can view them, to understand how people use AIBookCraft and to fix problems. We don’t use recordings for advertising or to train AI models.
How long. Recordings are kept for 30 days and then deleted.
4. Refund requests
When you ask Apple or Google Play for a refund of an AIBookCraft purchase, the store may ask us about that purchase. Through RevenueCat, we tell the store that the purchase was delivered and, if you have used credits you bought, that we would prefer the refund be declined. We don’t send your content, prompts or chats. The store makes the final decision.
5. Age assurance
When you turn on adult mode, you enter your birth date. Our servers use it to check that you are 18 or older. Your birth date is not stored.
What we keep:
- Whether you confirmed that you are 18 or older (yes or no), and when
- The age range provided by Apple (Declared Age Range) or Google Play (Age Signals), if any — not a birth date
- Whether adult mode is locked on your account
We use this information to decide which content settings are available to you, to keep content age-appropriate for users under 18, and to meet legal requirements.
6. Safety records
To enforce the content rules, handle appeals and meet legal obligations, we keep:
- Automated safety decisions for each book or story — the category, how many times it happened, when, and a one-way fingerprint of the screened fields (a code that can’t be turned back into text). These records never contain the text of your request.
- Reports you file — the reason, any details you add and an excerpt of the reported content.
- Crisis-resource events — that crisis resources were shown and when, without your message text.
- Enforcement status on your account — for example warnings, holds, removal of adult mode or suspensions.
We may share these records with authorities where the law requires it.
7. How long we keep information
- Safety and enforcement records: while your account exists and, after that, up to 3 years after the last violation, unless a longer period is required by law — for example, for legal claims or law-enforcement requests.
- Reports: up to 2 years.
- Birth date: not stored.
- 18+ confirmation, age range and adult-mode lock status: while your account exists.
- Session recordings: 30 days, then deleted.
- Crisis-resource counts and other analytics: as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Your content and account data: until you delete them or your account, as described in the Privacy Policy. Copies, continuations and adaptations that other users made within AIBookCraft from work you published may remain after you unpublish (see the Terms).
8. EU, UK and Korea
Legal bases (EU and UK). We generate the stories, chats and images you request, and provide purchases and credits, because it is necessary to perform our contract with you. We run automated safety screening, age checks for adult mode, enforcement and safety records based on our legitimate interests in keeping AIBookCraft safe and on our legal obligations. We use product analytics and session recordings in the app, with the sensitive fields listed in Session recordings hidden, based on our legitimate interests in understanding how AIBookCraft is used and fixing problems. We rely on your consent for optional features, such as voice feedback and optional website analytics.
AI transparency. In line with Article 50 of the EU AI Act, we tell you when you are interacting with AI and that content in AIBookCraft is AI-generated.
Korea. In line with Korea’s AI Basic Act, this is our notice that AIBookCraft is operated using generative AI and that its stories, characters, chat replies and images are AI-generated.
Your rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and other laws, and how to exercise them, are described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Your choices
- Turn adult mode off at any time in Settings.
- Unpublish anything you have published, and delete your content or your account in the app.
