Leo’s heart hammered against his ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the storm of crackling energy that swirled around him. The air, thick with the acrid scent of dark magic and the coppery tang of fear, vibrated with a raw, untamed power. The tendrils recoiled, shrieking as they struck the unyielding rock.
