The salty tang of the sea, a scent Althea had always found comforting, now carried a tremor of apprehension. It was the scent of the Serpent's Lair, a place spoken of only in hushed whispers and ancient, sea-worn charts. The artifact, the key to Cris’s freedom, was said to be hidden within its treacherous depths. And Althea, with Cris steadfast at her side, was determined to retrieve it.

"Are you certain about this, my Princess?" Cris’s voice, usually a steady anchor, held a note of concern that Althea couldn't ignore. He stood beside her on the deserted stretch of coastline, the waves lapping at their boots, the late afternoon sun painting the sky in hues of orange and rose. His gaze, usually so resolute, was shadowed with a familiar worry that tugged at her heart.

Althea met his eyes, her own reflecting the fiery sunset. "We have come too far, Cris. You have sacrificed too much. This artifact… it is our only hope." She reached out, her fingers brushing against the calloused skin of his hand. Even through the worn leather of his gloves, she could feel the latent power simmering beneath, a power that felt as ancient and vast as the ocean itself.
