The water, a hungry, suffocating beast, gnawed at the edges of the concrete. It sloshed against the reinforced doors of the subterranean complex, a relentless tide seeking any weakness, any forgotten seam. Above, the storm raged with an almost sentient fury, each gust of wind a physical blow against the exposed superstructure of Moon Industrial Works, each deluge of rain a desperate attempt to reclaim what lay hidden beneath. Alexander knew, with a chilling certainty that settled deep in his gut, that time was no longer a luxury. It was a rapidly dwindling resource.
