Big Admiration for a Small Tug
The captains of the big ships watched Tuggy with amazement. They saw how his small size and brave spirit saved the day. Tuggy realized that even small boats can be big heroes.
The wind howled a mournful tune, and the waves, no longer playful, crashed against the hulls of the great ships like angry fists. Captain Bigship, his weathered face etched with concern, peered out from the bridge of his magnificent vessel. He had seen storms before, many of them, but this one felt different, fiercer. He’d watched, with a grudging respect, as the little tugboat, Tuggy, had darted through the churning water, his small engine roaring with all its might. Tuggy had been a tiny, determined speck against the vast, furious sea, and he had guided Ferryboat Fiona, lost and terrified, right to the safety of the harbor.
Now, as the storm began to relent, its fury ebbing like a retreating tide, a quiet settled over the bay. The captains of the big ships, their own vessels secured, emerged onto their decks, their eyes drawn to the little tugboat bobbing near the dock. They had seen him, all of them. They had seen his courage. They had seen his skill.
Captain Bigship, his usual gruff demeanor softened, called out across the water, his voice carrying surprisingly well in the calmer air. "Tuggy! Well done, little fellow! Well done indeed!"
