A Hero's Guidance

With his powerful little engine, Tuggy guided Fiona through the storm. He used his knowledge of the bay to find a safe path. Fiona was so relieved and grateful to have Tuggy's help.

The wind howled like a lonely wolf, and the waves, once playful ripples, now crashed against Tuggy’s hull with a mighty roar. Rain lashed down, blurring the edges of the world into a swirling gray canvas. Tuggy’s little engine sputtered, a determined thrum against the tempest’s fury. He watched, his wide, painted eyes scanning the chaotic water, as the massive cargo ships, the ones he usually admired from afar, struggled against the storm’s brutal grip. Their lights, usually so steady and reassuring, flickered like frightened fireflies.

He felt a familiar pang of his own smallness. How could he, a little tugboat with a modest engine, ever hope to be useful when giants like these were being tossed about like bath toys? He shivered, not entirely from the cold spray that coated his deck. He remembered Captain Bigship’s gruff voice, often heard over the radio, a deep rumble that spoke of vast oceans and immense power. Would Captain Bigship even notice him if he tried to help? Or would he just be swept away, a tiny speck lost in the storm’s vastness?

Suddenly, a faint, panicked call crackled over the radio, cutting through the din. “Mayday! Mayday! This is Ferryboat Fiona! We’re lost! The waves… they’re too big! We can’t see the channel markers!”
