Nathaniel had suggested a quiet evening, a reprieve from the whirlwind of his usual intensity. He’d found this little bookshop tucked away on a side street, the kind of place that felt forgotten by time, its shelves groaning under the weight of stories whispered and untold. I’d agreed, a nervous flutter in my chest, unsure if I could navigate an evening where the silence wasn't a prelude to an escape.

He browsed the shelves with a quiet reverence, his long fingers tracing the spines of worn volumes. I watched him, a strange sense of peace settling over me. He didn’t demand conversation, didn’t fill the quiet with nervous chatter. He simply *was*, present and unhurried. It was a novel sensation.
