Elara found Sirijus by the old oak tree at the edge of the meadow, the one whose branches stretched out like welcoming arms against the twilight sky. He was tracing patterns in the dew-kissed grass with a twig, his brow furrowed in that familiar, thoughtful way. The air around him seemed to hum with the quiet intensity of his thoughts, a symphony of equations and possibilities that only he could truly hear. Elara approached softly, her footsteps barely disturbing the slumbering insects. She carried a basket woven from reeds, its contents a mystery, much like the gentle smile that played on her lips.
“Lost in the grand design again, Sirijus?” she asked, her voice a warm melody that cut through the stillness.
Sirijus looked up, a flicker of surprise in his eyes, quickly replaced by a gentle recognition. “Elara. I didn’t hear you. Yes, I suppose I am. The… the event… it keeps replaying in my mind.” He gestured vaguely with his twig, as if the very air held the echo of the strange shimmering that had briefly enveloped his lab, the one that had made the digital market graph on his screen dance with impossible volatility. “It felt like a glitch, a tear in the fabric of… well, everything. But how can something so profoundly illogical happen within the precise, predictable laws of physics?”
