They reach the dangerous, unstable region mentioned in the prophecy. The cosmic energies are at their most chaotic here, threatening to overwhelm them and tear Xylos apart before they can act.
The air grew heavy, thick with an unseen pressure that pressed against their scales and made their very bones hum with a disquieting energy. Ignis felt a prickle of unease, a sensation akin to standing too close to a forge when the bellows were pushed to their limit. Beside her, Aqua shivered, her usually placid blue eyes wide, reflecting the swirling, unstable hues of the sky above. Terra, ever grounded, kept her gaze fixed on the fractured earth beneath their talons, her emerald scales seeming to absorb the tremors that ran through the ground like a fever.
They had reached the region spoken of in the ancient scrolls, the place where Xylos itself seemed to weep raw, untamed power. It was a landscape of jagged peaks that clawed at the bruised sky, valleys that churned with phosphorescent mists, and rivers that flowed not with water, but with molten light. The very atmosphere crackled, laced with the discordant symphony of Xylos’s elemental forces gone mad.
“By the Great Flame,” Ignis breathed, her voice a low rumble, “the prophecy did not exaggerate.”
