The night air, usually a velvet cloak, felt taut with an unseen tension. Pablo, perched precariously on the broad back of Old Paint, scanned the familiar landscape of their hidden realm. Tonight, however, its vibrant hues seemed muted, as if holding their breath. A palpable hum vibrated through the very soil, and the ancient trees, usually draped in a gentle luminescence, now pulsed with an uneasy glow, casting long, distorted shadows that danced like specters on the forest floor. “Look!” Pablo’s voice, though hushed, cracked with excitement. He pointed a trembling finger towards a gnarled root system where a cluster of stones lay embedded, each one catching the strange light and shimmering with an inner fire. “What do you think they are?”

We must proceed with the utmost caution.”
