The friends found a stone & Pablo thinks that's a key.
The air in the hidden realm hung thick and sweet, like overripe fruit, a testament to the ancient magic that pulsed beneath the mossy earth. Towering trees, their bark etched with runes that pulsed with a soft, internal light, formed a cathedral ceiling overhead. Pablo, his sneakers crunching on fallen leaves, felt a familiar thrill through him. Beside him, Glint, a mosaic of polished metal and whirring gears, cast a steady beam from its optical sensor, while Old Paint, a creature of earth and shadow, moved with a surprising quietness for his immense size.
Suddenly, a flicker of something unnatural snagged Pablo’s attention. It was a gleam, a tiny spark of light nestled amongst the gnarled roots of a structure half-swallowed by the forest floor. “Over there!” he yelped, his voice echoing slightly. His heart hammered against his ribs as he scrambled towards it, his imagination already painting a thousand scenarios. The object was small, no bigger than his palm, a stone intricately carved with symbols that mirrored the glowing runes on the trees. It pulsed with a faint, rhythmic glow, a heartbeat of light that seemed to draw him in.
“Careful, Pablo,” Glint’s synthesized voice warned, a slight tremor in its usual steady tone. “Such artifacts can be… unpredictable. Tied to the shadows, perhaps.”
