Chapter 6
Meeting the Dark Force
Pablo & his friends stumble upon the dark force.
The air in the hidden realm shimmered, thick with an energy that hummed against Pablo’s skin. He, Old Paint, and Glint, a trio forged in the twilight hours, pressed deeper into the whispering woods. Above them, ancient runes pulsed with a soft, internal light, mirroring the quickening beat of their own hearts and casting an ethereal glow on the moss-laden path. Then, as if a giant hand had swept across the forest, the vibrant symphony of crickets and rustling leaves abruptly ceased. An unnerving silence descended, colder than the night air, prickling Pablo’s arms.
“Do you feel that?” Glint’s voice, usually a steady whir, was now a thin thread of mechanical unease. Pablo could only nod, the thrill of exploration curdling into a knot of dread in his stomach. He opened his mouth to speak, to voice the unspoken fear, when a shadow, vast and absolute, fell over them, swallowing the gentle moonlight.
A roar, a sound that tore at the very fabric of the night, ripped through the stillness. The dark force, a churning vortex of pure shadow and malevolence, descended. Without a second thought, Pablo shoved Old Paint and Glint behind him. “Get behind me!” he yelled, his voice surprisingly steady. The creature lunged, tendrils of darkness snaking out like grasping claws. Old Paint whinnied, a sound of pure alarm, his powerful hindquarters tensing, ready to bolt.
