The runes pulsed beneath them, a deep, resonant thrum that vibrated through Pablo’s boots and up his spine. Each beat sent ripples of energy through the air, making the fine hairs on his arms stand on end. He tightened his grip on Old Paint’s mane, feeling the horse’s muscles bunch and shift beneath him, a mirror of the surging power threatening to overwhelm them both. The ancient symbols, etched into the moss-covered stones, glowed with an inner fire, their light casting long, dancing shadows across Glint’s polished metallic form as the mechanical creature circled them, its internal gears whirring with an increasing, almost frantic, urgency.

Pablo squeezed his eyes shut, trying to filter out the overwhelming sensations. The energy felt alive, a wild, untamed thing, pushing against his consciousness with the relentless force of a raging river. Old Paint shifted beneath him, the horse’s deep, steady breathing a grounding anchor in the storm of magic swirling around them. Pablo instinctively matched his own breath to Old Paint’s, feeling their connection deepen with each shared inhale and exhale, a silent conversation between boy and beast.
