Grizz, magnificent and terrible even in his human form, was a mountain of raw power. His massive frame was still coiled, muscles bunched as if anticipating another onslaught, but the immediate threat had passed. He moved with a deliberate grace that belied his size, his gaze sweeping over the scene, a silent cataloging of the damage. His eyes, the color of a storm-tossed sea, met JJ’s across the carnage. In their depths, she saw not just the ferocity of the warrior, but a profound weariness, the weight of a secret that had been violently exposed.
“It’s over,” Grizz’s voice rumbled, a low vibration that seemed to settle the unsettled air. “For now.”
