The wind howled like a banshee, a mournful lament that clawed at the eaves of Grizz's cabin and whipped snow into a frenzy against the windows. JJ, wrapped in a thick wool blanket, watched Grizz’s massive silhouette move through the dim light. He was a mountain of a man, even in his human form, and the raw power that radiated from him was as palpable as the cold seeping through the walls.

“They’re coming,” Grizz stated, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate in JJ’s bones. He stood at the window, his gaze fixed on the swirling white chaos outside. His usual stoic calm was laced with a new tension, a deep-seated alertness that spoke of more than just the blizzard.

JJ’s heart hammered against her ribs. She’d spent days piecing together the fragments of impossible truths, the whispers of a hidden world that had been her constant companion since she’d woken in this remote sanctuary. The mass grave, the disappearances, the unnaturally intelligent wolf tracks—it all coalesced into a terrifying picture. And Grizz, the solitary were-bear, was at the heart of it.
