The cool, still air of the sarcophagus had always been a comfort to Maya, a gentle lullaby that cradled her slumber. But today, a tiny, insistent prickle disturbed the deep peace. It wasn't the familiar ache of ancient joints or the whisper of dust settling, but something… lively. Maya’s linen bandages rustled as she shifted, her papyrus heart fluttering with a nascent annoyance. The itch persisted, a maddening dance across her sarcophagus lid. With a groan that sent a tremor through the stone, she pushed herself upright, her bandaged eyes scanning the shadows.

The scarab, Pip, paused, tilting his minuscule head as if in understanding. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, he darted across the lid, his movements impossibly quick. Maya watched, a flicker of something akin to grudging admiration mingling with her irritation. He wasn't just an intruder; he was an *energetic* intruder. He zipped towards a pile of ancient hieroglyphs etched into the stone, tracing their lines with his antennae, his tiny body a whirlwind of motion.
