The air in the Petrova apartment, once thick with the scent of Anya’s lilies and the faint perfume of her performances, now held a hollow stillness. Dmitri traced the rim of his teacup, the porcelain cool against his fingertips. Beside him, Nickola stared out the frost-etched window, his reflection a pale ghost against the deepening twilight. The trial had been swift, the verdict a foregone conclusion given the irrefutable evidence. Their tormentor, the esteemed impresario Ivan Volkov, was behind bars, his carefully constructed world of manipulation and exploitation crumbling around him.
