Chapter 5
The Unwavering Trio
Finn and Leo witness Elara's determination. Inspired, they vow to stand by her, seeking new ways to fight when magic fails, their friendship a beacon of hope.
The air in the hidden clearing hung thick and heavy, not with the usual scent of damp earth and pine needles, but with a palpable sense of dread. Finn and Leo stood shoulder to shoulder, their eyes fixed on Elara. She was a silhouette against the bruised twilight sky, her shoulders slumped, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. The vibrant spark that usually danced around her, a testament to her innate magical prowess, was gone. Utterly gone. It was as if a vital part of her had been ripped away, leaving behind a hollow ache that they could feel even from a distance.
“She… she really can’t do magic anymore?” Leo’s voice, usually boisterous and full of life, was barely a whisper. A chilling, absolute absence where the hum of power should have been. “It’s like… like the wizard took it all,” he murmured, the words tasting like ash on his tongue. He remembered the searing pain that had shot through Elara when the ancient sorcerer’s shadowy tendrils had lashed out, the way she’d cried out, not in pain, but in a terrifying kind of emptiness.
