Chapter 13
Skye's Intuition
Skye feels an inexplicable pull towards a specific direction, a gut feeling that guides them past a hidden danger, reinforcing her connection to the quest.
The forest floor, usually a tapestry of rustling leaves and chattering squirrels, had fallen into a hushed, expectant silence. A heavy, almost suffocating stillness had settled over the trees, their once vibrant greens now muted, tinged with the weary hues of autumn’s slow surrender. Luna, her fur bristling with an unease that mirrored the oppressive air, trotted a pace ahead, her keen eyes scanning the tangled undergrowth. Beside her, Skye moved with a fluid grace, her ears swiveling, her nose twitching, a picture of focused alertness.
“Anything?” Luna’s voice was a low growl, a question laced with the gnawing anxiety that had become their constant companion. The dream, the prophecy, the fading life of their home – it all weighed on her, a burden heavier than any physical challenge.
Skye paused, lifting her head to catch the faintest whisper of the wind. She closed her eyes for a brief, intense moment, her brow furrowed. “It’s… it’s hard to explain, Luna. It’s not a scent, not a sound I can quite place. It’s more like… a hum. A vibration in the earth. And it’s strongest… that way.” She nudged her nose towards a dense thicket of thorny brambles, a wall of impenetrable green that seemed to swallow the light.
