The desert plays tricks on Elara's senses. She sees fleeting visions of her former life, of celestial halls, of faces she can't quite recall, fueling her confusion and desperation.

The sun beat down with a relentless fury, turning the endless expanse of sand into a shimmering, hostile sea. Elara stumbled, her boots sinking deep with each weary step. The air itself seemed to crackle with a heat that was more than just temperature; it was a tangible pressure, pressing down on her shoulders, whispering doubts into the hollows of her ears. Just when the monotony of the dunes threatened to swallow her whole, a flicker of movement danced at the edge of her vision.

She stopped, shielding her eyes with a trembling hand. Was it a sandstorm on the horizon? Or perhaps… something else? As the heat haze swirled and dissipated, a vision began to coalesce. Gleaming white pillars, impossibly tall, soared into a sky of brilliant, unblemished blue. Marble floors, so polished they reflected the light like a mirror, stretched out before her. And there, amidst the ethereal architecture, figures moved. Figures cloaked in robes of pure starlight, their faces serene, their movements graceful. A faint, melodic hum, like the whisper of a thousand harps, drifted on the phantom breeze.

Elara’s breath hitched. For a fleeting, agonizing moment, she was home. She saw herself, too, though not as she was now. Her wings, whole and radiant, unfurled behind her, catching the celestial light. Her robes were immaculate, woven from threads of dawn. A smile, a genuine, joyous smile, played on her lips. She reached out, her fingers yearning to touch the cool, smooth surface of a celestial pillar, to feel the familiar weight of grace settling upon her.
