Arthur stood at the precipice, the wind whipping his hair into a frenzy, mirroring the turmoil within him. Below, Jannah’s village, a cluster of humble dwellings nestled into the mountainside like shy wildflowers, seemed a world apart from the gilded cage he called home. He had come to these mountains seeking adventure, a respite from the stifling expectations of his lineage, and he had found… Jannah. And in finding her, he had stumbled upon a life he never knew he craved.

The polished leather of his saddle, the glint of his silver flask, the weight of the letters from his father detailing market fluctuations and familial obligations – they all felt like shackles. He would find himself staring at the worn wooden pendant Jannah had carved for him, its rough texture a stark contrast to the smooth, cool surfaces of his former life, and a pang of longing would seize him.
