Elara shares a deeper memory, not of magic, but of her own grandmother teaching her about the necklace's significance as a keeper of family stories and faith.
Elara, her eyes twinkling like freshly polished marbles, leaned back in her favourite armchair. The afternoon sun, a lazy cat stretching across the rug, warmed her wrinkled hands as she cradled the empty velvet pouch. Leo and Maya, perched on the edge of the sofa, watched her with a mixture of concern and anticipation. They had scoured the house, the garden, and even the slightly-too-smelly shed, all to no avail. The magical wooden bead necklace, the one that could apparently make toast levitate and sing opera, was well and truly gone.
“It’s no use, my dears,” Elara sighed, her voice a gentle rustle of dried leaves. “It’s vanished like a sneeze in a hurricane.”
Leo, ever the optimist, bounced on his feet. “But Grandma, you said it was a magical necklace! Maybe it teleported itself to a land made of jellybeans?”
