The air in the deserted corridor hung thick and heavy, a tangible presence that pressed against my lungs. It was the kind of quiet that wasn’t empty, but rather a charged silence, pregnant with unspoken words and hidden intentions. Not the usual taunting amusement, but a curious edge, a sharpness that hinted at something more complex.
