His hand, cool and impossibly smooth, rested on her arm, a delicate contrast to the inferno that now claimed her. The touch sent shivers, not of fear, but of a profound, intoxicating connection, through her. Her own skin, once pale and yielding, now held a luminescence, a faint, pearlescent glow that seemed to absorb and reflect the scant moonlight filtering through the ancient trees.

“You are mine,” he murmured, his voice a low, resonant vibration that seemed to pluck at the very strings of her soul. It was not a question, but a statement of irrefutable fact, a decree etched into the fabric of their shared existence.
