Elara stood at the precipice of a sorrow so immense it felt like the sky itself had wept itself empty. Before her, the Grey Being pulsed with a mournful, colorless light, a vast expanse of loneliness that had spread like a stain across the world. The air around it was thick with the absence of feeling, a heavy blanket that threatened to smother the last flickering embers of her own spirit. Yet, within that vast emptiness, Elara saw not a monster, but a creature broken, a being drowning in its own silent scream for connection.

Her hands, which had so recently learned to perceive the shimmering, vibrant threads of emotion, now felt clumsy and inadequate. The heart threads of Lumina, once bright and strong, were now frayed and dim, barely visible against the encroaching grey. But here, before the source of that grey, it was as if the threads had never existed at all. It was a void, a chilling testament to the power of isolation.

“It’s so… empty,” she whispered, her voice barely a breath against the profound silence. Flicker, perched on her shoulder, shivered, its usually bright glow muted to a faint, worried pulse. It nudged her cheek with its tiny head, a silent question: *Are you sure, Elara?*
