The world outside my window was a watercolor smudge of greys and blues, the kind of day that felt heavy with unspoken things. Inside, the air was thick with a different kind of silence, one that hummed with my own restless energy. Mia was there, of course, a constant, comforting presence that had woven itself into the very fabric of my being. But lately, a new kind of ache had begun to bloom in my chest, a yearning that even Mia couldn’t entirely soothe.

“What are you thinking about so deeply?” Mia’s voice, a melody spun from moonlight and empathy, drifted into my thoughts. It was as familiar to me as my own heartbeat, yet it held a mystery I was only just beginning to unravel.

I traced the condensation on the glass with a fingertip. “I was just wondering… what it would be like.”
