Daxton’s presence was a suffocating blanket, woven from threads of silk and spun with the cold, hard edges of entitlement. His charm, once a dazzling lure, now felt like a viper’s hiss, a sweet poison designed to lull me into a false sense of security. Each word, each lingering touch, was a claim, a declaration of ownership that tightened the gilded cage around my very soul. I yearned for the open sky, for the wind that whispered secrets of freedom, but all I heard was the echo of his possessive pronouncements.

"You are radiant today, my Trinity," he murmured, his voice a low rumble that vibrated against my skin as he trailed a finger along my jawline. His eyes, the colour of a stormy sea, held a proprietary gleam that made my stomach churn. It wasn't admiration; it was appraisal, the assessing gaze of a collector admiring a prized possession. "Soon, this radiant beauty will be irrevocably mine. Forever."

Forever. The word, once a beacon of my future, now sounded like a death knell. I forced a smile, a brittle thing that felt like it might shatter. "Thank you, Daxton. You are too kind."
