The world Lou John had known, or rather, the world that had known him only as a blight, pulsed with a life he could now perceive with an unsettling clarity. It was a fragile, vibrant thing, like a dewdrop clinging precariously to a spider’s silken thread, unaware of the impending storm. From his vantage point, a place where the veil between realities thinned to a shimmering transparency, he could see the familiar spires of the city reaching towards a sky unblemished by the cosmic dust that now swirled in his perception. He saw the fear in their eyes when they spoke of the unknown, a fear that was a bedrock of their society, the very foundation upon which their perceived order was built.

Beside him, the Follower remained silent, a silhouette against the swirling nebulae. Their presence was a constant, an enigma Lou John was still struggling to decipher. They had spoken little since their initial encounter, offering cryptic pronouncements that hinted at a deeper understanding of the forces at play. Now, they simply watched, their gaze fixed on the world below with an intensity that Lou John couldn't quite penetrate.
