The early morning mist still clung to the dew-kissed blades of grass when Peacock Cat stretched, a languid unfurling of limbs that felt more like a dance than a simple awakening. Sunlight, dappled and golden, streamed through the ancient oaks, painting shifting patterns on her impossibly curly fur. Each strand, a testament to the meticulous grooming her humans had undertaken for years, now seemed to shimmer with an inner light, a vibrant halo of blue and white. She padded out of the familiar comfort of her sleeping nook, her paws sinking slightly into the soft earth. The scent of brewing tea, a comforting aroma that had always signaled safety and warmth, filled the air. Peacock Cat approached the kitchen, her tail held high, not in defiance, but in a quiet declaration of self. The human paused, a mug halfway to their lips, and a soft smile spread across their face. It was a smile free of apprehension, a smile that saw her not as a carrier of a dreaded disease, but as the beautiful, unique creature she was.
