Chapter 5
The Lion's Roar
Anya seeks out 'The Lion,' an enigmatic rebel leader. Their meeting is tense, filled with suspicion, but hints at a deeper game being played by all sides.
The air in the makeshift camp crackled with a tension Anya had grown accustomed to, yet this felt different. It was the quiet before a storm, a pregnant pause that settled heavy on her shoulders. Samuel, his face a mask of stoic observation, had led her through a labyrinth of dusty tracks and hushed checkpoints, each one a reminder of the fractured authority that governed this land. Finally, they had arrived at a cluster of tents, a stark contrast to the manicured lawns of Juba, a place that exuded a raw, untamed energy. This was the domain of ‘The Lion’.

Now, she was about to meet him.
A young man, his eyes sharp and wary, emerged from one of the tents. He was armed, his rifle held with an easy familiarity. He studied Anya, then Samuel, his gaze lingering on the foreign woman. Samuel spoke to him in a low, rapid dialect, his voice calm but firm. The young man nodded, his expression unreadable, and beckoned them forward.
