Chapter 12
The Remote Control Gambit
Andy spots the TV remote. If she can get the characters close enough, maybe she can use it to suck them back in. She devises a plan, luring them with the promise of more drawing supplies.
Andy’s heart hammered against her ribs like a tiny drummer with a very important, very loud job. The air in her room, usually thick with the scent of crayons and well-loved stuffed animals, now felt thin and sharp, like inhaling static. Pinky and Snakey, her once-beloved cartoon pals, were no longer confined to the flickering screen. They were here, in her room, their exaggerated smiles now twisted into something truly menacing. Crystal Lizard, bless his bubbly, oblivious heart, was bouncing around like a rogue disco ball, leaving trails of sparkly confusion in his wake.

Her bed, a cozy fortress, was now just a large, soft target. And then, her gaze landed on it. The television remote. It lay innocently on the coffee table, a beacon of hope in the swirling chaos. If she could just… if she could get them close enough…
A spark of an idea, as bright and sudden as a cartoon lightning bolt, flashed through Andy’s mind. The remote! She remembered how, in the cartoon, certain magical items could transport things, or make them disappear. What if the remote, in its real-world form, could do the same to Pinky and Snakey? It was a long shot, a desperate gamble, but it was something.
