The Art of the Post-Mortem
Ashley meets Michelle at Maya's café the morning after the dessert date with Rowan. Through playful banter and a running inside joke about Leo's PowerPoint obsession, Michelle helps Ashley unpack the evening's events and gently challenges her to recognize that meaning isn't something to be found—it's something she's already building, one tart at a time.
Ashley found Michelle already seated at the corner booth, two mugs of something steaming in front of her, and a look on her face that said she had been waiting for exactly this moment since approximately the moment Ashley had walked out the door last night.
"You look like you swallowed a secret," Michelle said, sliding one of the mugs across the table. "Spill it."
"It's nine in the morning."
