Ashley meets Rowan at Maya's café for their promised dessert date, but Leo Vance shows up unannounced, desperate to apologize and re-pitch his project. The café smelled like cinnamon and burnt sugar when Ashley pushed through the door. Maya was behind the counter, wiping a glass with violent precision, her no-nonsense expression softening just slightly when she spotted her.
"He's early," Maya said, nodding toward the corner booth. "Been here ten minutes. Ordered three different desserts and then changed his mind twice. I think he's nervous."
"Rowan? Nervous?"
