The hum of the expo floor, a symphony of whirring gadgets and excited chatter, had finally begun to subside. My booth, once a beacon of chaotic energy, now felt like the calm eye of a storm that had just passed. People still milled around, their faces alight with the magic of the Glow-Bot, but the frantic rush had eased into a satisfied murmur. I leaned against my display, my legs aching, my heart thrumming with a victory that felt both surreal and deeply earned. We’d done it. The Glow-Bot, my little creation, had captured their imaginations.
Then, a shadow fell over me. Not a menacing one, but one that carried the weight of a thousand corporate decisions. I looked up, and there he was. The CEO of MegaCorp. Mr. Sterling. He wasn't alone, of course. Two impeccably dressed assistants hovered a respectful distance behind him, their gazes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity.
He extended a hand, his smile a practiced, polished thing. "Alex," he said, his voice smooth as brushed steel. "A remarkable showing. Truly remarkable."
