The hum of the convention center, usually a reassuring symphony of innovation, now felt like a frantic drumbeat against my ribs. It had been hours since the Glow-Bot had stolen the show, hours since MegaCorp’s sleek, sterile booth had been relegated to a mere footnote. My own little corner, once buzzing with curious faces, was now a whirlwind of interviews, excited chatter, and the faint, sweet scent of success. But amidst the elation, a gnawing unease persisted. MegaCorp. The CEO. His silence was louder than any roar.
I found myself replaying the moment he’d finally approached my booth, his gaze, usually sharp and assessing, now held a flicker of something I couldn’t quite decipher. It wasn't the predatory glint I'd expected, the one that promised a swift, brutal acquisition. It was… contemplative. He’d circled the Glow-Bot, his fingers tracing the smooth, cool casing, a stark contrast to the aggressive posture he usually projected.
"Impressive," he’d stated, his voice a low rumble that cut through the surrounding noise. "Truly impressive."
