The Great Kingdom Scavenger Hunt was in full swing, and the air, usually thick with the scent of polished marble and nervous courtiers, now buzzed with a delightful, chaotic energy. From the bustling market square, where merchants were flustered by giggling children deciphering riddles about ripe apples, to the hushed Royal Gardens, where elderly ladies were surprisingly spry as they searched for hidden golden thimbles, laughter echoed. Princess Pippa, perched precariously on the highest turret of the castle, watched it all with a grin so wide it threatened to split her face. Below, Sir Reginald the Royal Guard, his usually immaculate uniform slightly askew from a particularly vigorous chase after a clue, was being pointed in the general direction of the Whispering Woods by a gaggle of gleeful youngsters. Children and adults alike, normally so caught up in their own routines, were mingling, collaborating, their faces alight with the thrill of discovery. A baker, usually gruff and flour-dusted, was arm-in-arm with a noblewoman, both of them puzzling over a cryptic clue about a ‘singing stream.’

“Reginald,” Queen Eleanor murmured, her voice softer than usual, her eyes scanning the happy throng. “She’s… she’s actually done it.”
