After Thompson's arrest, Marcus and Lena give their statements to the police, but the relief is short-lived. At home, Marcus struggles with the aftermath while Lena stays close. A visit from Coach Harris reveals that Thompson's network is still active, and a new threat forces Marcus to confront the reality that the danger isn't over.
The police station smelled like stale coffee and disinfectant. Marcus sat on a plastic chair in the hallway, his elbows on his knees, staring at the scuffed linoleum floor. Lena was beside him, her shoulder pressed against his, her hand still holding his. They hadn't let go since they walked out of Thompson's office.
A door opened, and an officer stepped out. "Marcus Reed?"
He stood, his legs unsteady. Lena stood with him.
