A Test of Loyalty
During a perilous journey to secure the prey, a blizzard strikes. Some wolves falter, but Luna's determination inspires them to press on, their loyalty tested by the storm.
The wind howled, a mournful lament that clawed at the den's entrance, whipping snow into furious white curtains. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of fear and hunger. Luna, curled tight against Rowan’s flank, felt the gnawing emptiness in her belly echo the anxiety that pulsed through the pack. The last rabbit had been small, barely enough to sate the youngest pups. The snow, once a soft blanket, had become a relentless enemy, burying their hunting grounds and stealing the scent of prey.
Rowan shifted, his old bones creaking. "The old trails are buried," he murmured, his voice raspy like dry leaves. "The deer have moved deeper into the mountains, beyond our reach for now."
Luna nudged his muzzle, a silent question. What do we do?
