The air in Dr. Thorne’s study, usually thick with the scent of old paper and brewing tea, now felt charged, humming with an unspoken anticipation. Elara traced the faint, almost invisible lines on the page before her, her fingertip a delicate probe against the worn vellum. The symbols, once a chaotic jumble, were beginning to coalesce, their individual forms dissolving into a larger, more intricate design.
