Temide’s fingers hovered over the keyboard, a tremor running through them that had nothing to do with the cool, sterile air of the hidden broadcast studio. Beside him, Eliza’s breath hitched, a soft sound swallowed by the hum of the powerful, jury-rigged transmitter. Outside, the world slept, blissfully unaware of the digital storm brewing within these four walls, a storm Temide and Eliza were about to unleash. The screen glowed, a blank canvas waiting for the truth.
“Are you ready?” Eliza’s voice was a low murmur, a stark contrast to the thrumming anxiety in Temide’s chest. He could feel the weight of every flickering bulb, every humming refrigerator, every warm home around the globe pressing down on him. This was it. The culmination of weeks of frantic coding, daring infiltrations, and near-misses that had left them both drained but resolute.
Temide nodded, his gaze fixed on the blinking cursor. “As I’ll ever be. Marius… he gave us everything. We owe it to him, to everyone.” He thought of Marius’s weary eyes, the deep lines etched by regret, the desperate plea to make things right. It was a burden Temide carried, a promise he intended to keep.
