Temide traced the glowing lines on Eliza’s screen, his brow furrowed in concentration. Marius’s fragmented whispers, once a jumble of fear and regret, were slowly coalescing into a coherent, terrifying picture. The information he’d given them, cryptic as it was, was the key. It spoke of nodes, of phantom signals, of a digital web spun across continents, all managed by something called ‘The Octopush’.
“It’s like a phantom limb,” Eliza murmured, her fingers dancing across the keyboard, coaxing secrets from the glowing data. “You can’t see it, but you can feel its presence. It’s influencing everything, subtly shifting the flow, like a hidden current.” She pointed to a pulsating cluster of lights on the map, representing power grids across Europe. “This section here… it’s showing unusual demand patterns. Not just spikes, but a sustained, unnatural hunger for energy that doesn’t correlate with any known industrial activity.”
Temide nodded, a chill creeping up his spine. “Marius said they could create… illusions. Make it look like there’s a shortage in one place, while hoarding power elsewhere. All to drive up prices, to make people desperate.” He remembered the hushed conversations he'd overheard in the town square, the growing anxiety about rising electricity bills, the fear of the lights going out. This wasn’t just about numbers on a screen; it was about real people, real lives.
