A Dragon's Delight

Felix, now comfortable, shows off his sparkly scales and gentle nature. He enjoys the warmth and kindness Alex and Coco offer, truly content in his new home.

Felix stretched out on the rug, a magnificent shimmer of sapphire and amethyst scales catching the afternoon sunbeams that streamed through the window. Alex watched him, a wide, satisfied grin plastered across his face. It had only been a few days since he’d brought the magnificent creature home, a secret tucked away in his room, and already Felix felt like he’d always belonged. Coco, curled up beside Felix’s enormous, warm flank, let out a contented sigh, her tail giving a lazy thump-thump against the floorboards.

“You really are amazing, Felix,” Alex whispered, reaching out a tentative hand. His fingers brushed against a scale, and it felt surprisingly smooth, like polished glass, yet warm, as if it held the captured heat of a thousand suns. Felix rumbled, a low, purring sound that vibrated through the floor. It wasn't the roar Alex might have expected from a dragon, but a gentle, pleased murmur. He nudged Alex’s hand with his snout, his pale blue eyes, the color of a summer sky just before dusk, blinking slowly.

“He likes you, Alex,” Coco barked softly, nudging Alex’s leg with her wet nose. Even though she was still just a puppy, her instincts were sharp, and she seemed to understand the deep bond forming between the boy and the dragon.
