Chapter 7
The First Spark
A moment of accidental closeness—a shared laugh, a brief touch—ignites a romantic spark. Jason feels it too, realizing his feelings are evolving beyond brotherly affection.
The air in the kitchen was thick with the scent of freshly baked cookies, a comforting aroma that usually signaled a cozy evening. Tonight, however, it felt charged with an unspoken tension, a subtle hum that vibrated beneath the surface of polite conversation. “These are… really good, Jason,” Seraphina said, her voice a low, smooth contralto that always managed to sound both regal and a little detached. She took another bite, her eyes meeting his over the rim of her mug. There was a hint of something softer there tonight, a vulnerability she rarely allowed to surface.
