Chloe didn't sleep.
She lay in her bed, the seed tucked under her pillow, pulsing with a light she could feel through the fabric. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw the silver tree, heard the howl in the darkness, felt the weight of three nights pressing down.
At four in the morning, she gave up.
