Chapter 7
Guardians of the Grove

Anya stood at the edge of the whispering pines, her heart a frantic drum against her ribs. The guttural roars of the Gloom Corp machinery, a sound that grated against the very soul of the forest, echoed through the trees. The memory of Kaelen’s steady presence, the low rumble of his voice in her mind, steadied her. “You are more than you know, Anya. The forest remembers. The spirits listen.”
She closed her eyes, breathing in the scent of damp earth and pine needles. She needed to listen. She needed to call. She reached out, not with her hands, but with her spirit, a tendril of pure intention unfurling into the vibrant tapestry of the forest.
