The silence that followed Theophilus's pronouncement was heavier than any she had experienced before. "2026," he'd said, his voice resonating with an unshakeable certainty. It wasn't just a date; it was a decree, a definitive line drawn in the sand of their nascent future. Tiana felt a peculiar disconnect, as if her own internal clock had sputtered to a halt while his raced ahead, unburdened by the practicalities that tethered her to reality. She was twenty-four, still navigating the early currents of her career, still figuring out the contours of her own independence. A wedding in two years felt like a poorly rehearsed play, the lines already forgotten before they were even spoken.

"Theophilus," she began, her voice a little shaky, trying to find a gentle opening, a chink in his armor of conviction. "That's… very soon. We haven't even truly begun to build a life together. We haven't even been in the same room for more than a few hours." She paused, searching his face for any sign of understanding, but his gaze remained fixed, unwavering. It was the same look he’d given her when she'd dared to wear trousers, a subtle disapproval that spoke volumes.

"God's timing is perfect, Tiana," he replied, his tone earnest, almost reverent. "And when He brings two people together, there should be no delay."
