The air in the grand ballroom of the Eko Hotels and Suites crackled with an energy that was both electric and, for Chinedu, slightly suffocating. It was the annual Tech Summit, an event he’d been invited to speak at, a testament to his peculiar brand of influence. Around him, a sea of sleek devices glowed, a symphony of pings and chimes, each one a tiny beacon of connectivity. Chinedu, however, clutched his Nokia 3310 like a prayer bead, its familiar weight a comforting anchor in this sea of digital opulence. He’d been coaxed into attending by Amina, who, despite her initial exasperation, had agreed that a speaking slot at the Tech Summit was too big an opportunity to pass up.

“You’re sure you don’t want to borrow a phone for the day, Chinedu?” Amina had asked, her voice a blend of concern and amusement as they navigated the throngs of attendees. Her own smartphone, a device so slim it looked like it could slice bread, was already buzzing with notifications.

Chinedu had just smiled, a slow, confident smile that had become his trademark. “Amina, my dear, this Nokia is more reliable than most of these gadgets. It’s got battery for days, it’s practically indestructible, and it’s never crashed a keynote speech.”
