The small miracles had been undeniable: the unexpected donation that covered the electricity bill, the anonymous gift that replenished the food pantry, the sudden surge of interest in the church’s charity drive. But Silas Thorne’s shadow loomed, a constant reminder of the world’s harsh realities.
