Chapter 16
A Spy in the Mines
John establishes a network of informants within the mines and among the guards. He gathers intelligence on the humanoids and Timothy's operations, planning his first strike.
The dust of Lykos’ Lambda settled on everything, a fine, gritty shroud that clung to my skin, my clothes, my very soul. It was the taste of our lives, the taste of our servitude, the taste of Mars itself, or at least, the Mars we were allowed to know. A chance for the Colors to feast their eyes on our misery, to dole out scraps of food and trinkets to the clan that had managed to extract the most vibranium. It was a competition designed to pit us against each other, to further cement our chains. But this year, something had shifted. The memory of Melissa’s song, the echo of her courage, had ignited a fire that no amount of dust could extinguish.
